Opportunities for Students

EXTRA OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS!

1. NSW YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL

  • Be the voice of your generation and apply to be a member of the NSW Youth Advisory Council! Students who become Council members attend meetings every 4-6 weeks and will be leaders of their community. 
  • Applications open early in the year and you can apply online.

 

2. JUNIOR ABORIGINAL EDUCATION CONSULTATIVE GROUP (AECG)

  • All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are invited to join the Warialda High School Junior AECG - you can join anytime throughout the year!
  • If you join, you will be invited to attend Yarning Circles with other students and participate in fun activities, workshops and excursions!

3. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL (SRC)

  • All Warialda High School students (years 7 to 12) are invited to apply for the SRC. SRC applications are currently closed but the next application round will open in the near future.
  • As a SRC member, you will represent your year group, organise special events at school, participate in extra opportunities, and learn how to become a great leader!
 

4. GWYDIR SHIRE YOUTH COUNCIL

  • Joining the Gwydir Shire Youth Council will give you the opportunity to work as a team with other young people from Warialda and Bingara.
  • You'll also help organise and participate in fun activities and functions!

5. RURAL YOUTH AMBASSADORS

  • This program brings passionate rural young people together, to develop their leadership skills, learn valuable things, and be the representative voice for all rural young people.
  • Each year, year 11 students are nominated by their school to join. Ask the Principal about this if you're interested!
 

6. RISE

  • Rise is one of the largest scholarship programs in the world for talented young people.
  • If you're 15-17 years old, you can record short selfie videos & complete the Rise Challenge for the opportunity to receive a lifetime of benefits.
 

7. GWYDIR/WILLOUGHBY YOUTH EXCHANGE

  • Each year, Warialda High School students can apply for the Gwydir/Willoughby Youth Exchange Program.
  • If your application is successful, you will be involved in a visit from Sydney students who will stay in Bingara and do fun activities. Later in the year, you will then travel to Sydney to sightsee with the Sydney students.
